Due to restricted road widths, works planned between Sunday 24th February and Thursday 7th March 2019 will require a road closure between 1900 and 0600 each night. No work is planned for Friday or Saturday nights. A signed diversion route will be in place via the A82 and A85 adding an additional 42 miles or 50 minutes to the road journey for travellers between Connel and Ballachulish.

A83 Rest and be Thankful Resurfacing
Sunday 10th - Friday 15th March 2019

BEAR Scotland, acting on behalf of Transport Scotland, are proposing to carry out essential carriageway maintenance works on the A83 Trunk Road, through Rest and Be Thankful. The resurfacing works are provisionally programmed for construction from Sunday 10th March 2019 for 4 nights, between the hours of 8pm to 5am. The works will involve resurfacing of the westbound carriageway lane through the ongoing landslide mitigation project for a length of approximately 540 metres.

To ensure the safety of the workforce and members of the travelling public the carriageway will be subject to a road closure for the duration of the works. Road users are advised to use the approved diversion route during the working hours which will add approximately 30 minutes onto journey times when travelling between Tarbert and Inveraray. Access for emergency vehicles will be available at all times during the works.

Out with the working hours the A83 will remain open to traffic however, it is necessary for temporary traffic signals and 30mph speed restriction to be in place to operate a single lane closure due to the ongoing landslide mitigation project.

BEAR Scotland and Transport Scotland wish to thank road users and the community for their patience during these essential works.

Monday 11th March and Wednesday 13th March 2019

Resurfacing works will be carried out between 0700 to 1900 each day with a 10mph convoy traffic management system in place. Outwith working hours a 30 mph speed limit will be in place.

Oban Linkspan 1

Linkspan 1, which is due to be replaced in February 2019, currently has a weight restriction of 8.5t per axle.

All commercial customers will be contacted to discuss options, as this may result in a change of departure time to accommodate the weight.

CalMac Ferries apologises for disruption to service due to the on going issues with Oban linkspans.
