Tarbert Linkspan Closure

CMAL have advised us that due to findings during routine inspection of the Tarbert linkspan, issues have been identified which require the lifting ropes to be replaced. The linkspan at Tarbert will be closed after the 16.00 service on Wednesday 27 February departs, and will reopen for the arrival of the 11.20 sailing on Tuesday 5 March. This will allow both sets of rope replacements to be carried out during a single closure period.

For the duration of the linkspan outage the normal timetabled service pattern will operate but will be passenger only and any vehicular traffic will need to travel on the Stornoway or Lochmaddy and Sound of Harris services - our customer service teams are now contacting all booked traffic to arrange options, and our customers will be made aware through the usual process.

Please be aware, the Uig-Lochmaddy service will not be affected by the closure of the Tarbert linkspan.

More information regarding the works can be found here.
